Following an initiative of the Development Agency of Upper Gorenjska, a virtual job fair was held at the end of the week for students of the Jesenice Secondary School who are studying mechanical engineering and mechatronics. Hidria participated at this event organised on Zoom.
As an introduction the students and professors were greeted by the director of RAGOR; the job fair was attended by representatives of the Jesenice municipality, the People's University, the Employment Service of Slovenia and, in addition to our Corporation, representatives of some companies from the region, Sumida, Mirostil and Kovinar.
Before the event, the students saw the presentation films of all these companies. They had the opportunity to get to know Hidria through a presentation film for young people. And the specifics and characteristics of production in Jesenice in a film presenting the production of the business unit (BU) Hidria Lamtec.
A presentation of participating companies followed, with the goal to present the work, employment profiles and staffing needs to students of the final year. The students also received the information what is produced at the Hidria site in Jesenice, where the sites of the BU Hidria Lamtec are located, who our main clients are and what skills are required for certain positions.
In addition to the presentation of jobs we used this event to inform students about the possibilities of scholarships, mandatory practical training, holiday work and the possibility of participating in the preparation of final theses and later diploma theses. We have been cooperating with the Jesenice High School for years, as their students have been performing their practical training at our company.
Initially the job fair was planned as a live event. Yet we had to move it to the virtual environment due to the situation related to the re-increased spreading of the new coronavirus. Nevertheless, we used modern technologies to allow young people to enter schools and companies in a different, yet interesting way.
