Hidria knows how important engineering professions are for the development of our corporation. As we wish to encourage young people to actively choose such jobs, we became a strategic partner of the project We Will Be Engineers! which has been promoting technical professions among young people for a decade now.
Our strategic participation in the project We Will Be Engineers! is aimed at stimulating talent development and motivating young people for creativity in technical professions and innovation; both will increase the added value and competitiveness. They also strengthen the awareness of gender equality and intergenerational connections. Together with other exceptional, innovative, and sustainably oriented companies and educational institutions that joined this project we are looking for the best of the best and importantly connect the business with young exceptional talents.
The interest in technical and natural-science jobs among young people has been increasing every year. The project We Will Be Engineers! is one of the things that contribute to it.
In the last decade, over 70 organisations have joined this project that encourages young people to ask themselves what their advantages are, what they like and what the environment needs. Through various events, the project addressed over 5,600 young people. Last year, one of them was also our colleague Dr Špela Bolka who was one of the top ten female engineers in Slovenia in the competition Female Engineer of 2020 and as project manager of Hidria Bond in the same year won AmCham Slovenia’s Best of the Best competition too.
The KAMbi application was presented at the schooling and professions fair Informativa for the first time and completed by an incredible number - 1,000 high school students. By now over 2,000.
The project We Will Be Engineers! is significantly supplemented by the Slovenian KVIZUM and KAMbi. The first is a quiz that wishes to reach most Slovenian people and strengthen the self-confidence and recognition of Slovenian people as a nation of engineers, innovators, and pioneers. And the second is an application for high-school students who are making the decision where to continue their studies. The application contains a questionnaire for young people to check how their competencies match individual engineering profiles and, on the internet, get to know individuals in companies and other organisations who work in such professions. The aim is to present the interesting world of technical professions and innovation to young people as well as possible.
