In the context of the project “Let’s make Hidria green and plant fruit trees”, our colleagues planted 24 apple and pear trees. Most trees are expected to begin to bloom next year, and some of them already this year. So we can expect the first sweet fruits already this autumn.
4 fruit trees were planted at Hidria’s Jesenice site, where key parts for high-performance electro motors for hybrid and electric vehicles are produced. The trees are expected to bear the first fruits of the apple cultivars Krivopecelj, Carjevič and Florina, and Williams pear this autumn. Our colleagues in Tolmin decided to plant newer apple cultivars – Topaz, Opal, Karneval, Merkur and Sirius, that also thrive in the gardens of our employees. All 20 planted cultivars are resistant against the most widely spread fungal diseases. This means they can be grown organically, without spraying.
In this way our colleagues in Jesenice and Tolmin made an important contribution to a pleasant environment for work and socialising, and also promote a healthy lifestyle among colleagues and in the surroundings. All fruits from the trees will be free to eat for our employees or others. The project “Let’s make Hidria green and plant fruit trees” signals to the public that our production processes are clean and green. And that the corporation consistently follows the basic values of Hidria - responsibility and respect for the environment and employees.
